Students from Young North Public School, Young Public School and Young High school enjoyed an amazing day of Science-based learning this week, targeted at developing their innovation skills and capacities as high quality, life-long 21st century learners. The program was funded through a successful community of school's application to the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, who were seeking to support science and technology based learning in the middle years of our rural schools. Delivered by innovative Sydney based education consultancy company, ‘The BrainChild Academy', the workshops delivered across the three schools saw craft, technology and science collide. Young North Public School Principal Kel Smerdon said: "Students were fortunate to receive such an engaging and inspiring day and we have enjoyed seeing them develop their content knowledge, but also the important teamwork, flexible thinking and working interdependently skills they need to be successful in life." Mr Smerdon also noted that this is another great example of the network of local public schools working together to deliver local students amazing opportunities across all key learning areas. Young North Public School Year 6 students Reilly Falzon and Ciappina gave the day two thumbs up, stating: "It was great, and really interesting! We love electronics and are thankful for the opportunity brought out to our country town. It was awesome."
