Last week saw pre-schoolers and school students from across town converge upon Young North Public School for the first NAIDOC preschool event. Principal Kel Smerdon noted that: "The event stemmed from a partnership between Young Mobile Play Activities and Young North Public School as we worked collaboratively to come up with a way to engage our town's pre-schoolers in an authentic NAIDOC week experience." The event was supported by primary students from all town schools who performed for pre-schoolers. Attending the event was local AECG President Cheryl Fensom and aboriginal Elder Enid Clarke along with children, parents and carers who came along to enjoy the fun. A huge "thanks" must also be passed on to Roy Levitt for his amazing Aboriginal artefact and art display and also the didgeridoo player for his wonderful playing. The event was funded by YNPS and Mr Smerdon wished to acknowledge the work of Mrs Sharon Shoard and staff from Young Mobile Play Activities and Mrs Angela Agnew, YNPS Aboriginal Linkage officer, who worked with the school's leadership team to make the day such as success.
