Kinder Transition Program

Transition programs at Young North are designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students entering school, particularly for those with extra needs. These programs typically involve collaboration between families, local preschools, and schools to ensure that the individual needs of each child are met. Here’s how we support this process:

  1. Collaboration with Families: Transition programs engage families early in the process, providing them with information about what to expect in school. This includes orientation sessions, workshops, and resources that help parents understand how to support their child’s learning and development.
  2. Partnerships with Local Preschools: Young North works closely with local preschools to gather insights about each child’s strengths, challenges, and learning styles. This collaboration ensures that the transition is based on a comprehensive understanding of the child’s background.
  3. Individualised Support: For students with extra needs, transition programs may include personalised planning sessions that involve special education staff, therapists, and other professionals. This ensures that appropriate support strategies are in place from the outset.
  4. Familiarisation Activities: Programs include visits to the school, meet-and-greet events with teachers, and opportunities for children to engage in activities at school prior to starting. This helps reduce anxiety and build familiarity with the new environment.
  5. Ongoing Communication: Effective transition programs emphasise continuous communication between families, preschools, and schools. This ensures that everyone is aligned and can address any concerns or adjustments needed as the child transitions into the school setting. Stay up to date on our socials (Facebook) and School Website.

By implementing these strategies, our transition programs aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students as they begin their educational journey.
